Biography
[change | change source]Manikarnika is born into a Maratha family. She was married to Gangadhar Rao, the Maharaja of Jhansi, in , and became the Rani of Jhansi. After her marriage, Manikarnika became Lakshmibai, named in honour of the goddess Lakshmi.
